Feature: The Kings Of The JDM Lifestyle!

The Nissan GT-R has always been a dubbed the Godzilla of the Japanese car scene. Let’s get down to the facts; pricings starting from about $70,000, the 2009 Nissan GT-R is probably one of the most affordable cars in the line of exotic cars pulling 450+ horsepower. According to some tests, it’s even comparable with the topline cars, such as the Bugatti Veyron and Porsche Carrera GT, and these cars are priced two times as much. You can’t really complain driving a car that costs less than $100,000 while having a 3.8L Twin-Turbo V-6 engine. However, if we were forced to choose a flaw of the 2009 Nissan GT-R, it would be the weight. Ranging close to 3800 pounds, this beast is pretty heavy. Don’t get us wrong, despite its heavy weight, the GT-R performs like no other, but have you ever imagined knocking out a few pounds on a car and seeing how well it would perform on the track? The impressive 3.5 sec in 0-60 mph is crazy, but the car might break its own record with a diet.
There was one company that took the step of developing and scrutinizing the parts of a GT-R, Password:JDM.

As most of us know, Password:JDM specializes in high quality Carbon Fiber parts and their main focus is towards JDM cars, GT-R’s now being one of them. Their goals are pretty much straight forward; building Carbon Fiber parts for almost any part of the car, exterior or interior, while maintaining its strength, and to manufacture them as light as possible. We’ve been keeping ourselves updated with the GT-R build when it wasn’t completed and all we can say is that their building process was full of amazements. As of today, Password:JDM’s GT-R has the lightest Carbon Fiber hood developed by their own factory, weighing 9.89 pounds, shedding more than half of the weight of the OEM hood. The trunk has an impressive weight as well, ranging about 4.5 pounds. But it doesn’t stop there with the Carbon Fiber madness. The engine bay was transformed with Password:JDM Carbon Fiber parts as well, such as the intake manifold, radiator cooling cover, etc.
“We focused on making the GT-R as light as possible by replacing our own line of Carbon Fiber products.” Tan, the VP of Marketing and Sales, took most of his time seeing the build-up process of their GT-R and pinpointing the smallest details to perfection.

So far, we talked about the exterior parts, but the interior was also dressed up, one of them being the Tecnocraft Carbon Fiber bucket seats, weighing 9 pounds each. “Tecnocraft is another branch within Password:JDM manufacturing Carbon Fiber parts for high-end luxurious and exotic cars. Although GT-R parts are named as Password:JDM in our facility, we couldn’t ignore its exoticness and decided to replace the heavy OEM seats to our upper branch products.” The Tecnocraft seats were designed by the shape of a human’s spinal cord, so the comfort is actually better than you think.
