Feature: Flawless EK
There are plenty of rides out there that are worth a full feature and some do get an opportunity from magazines and well known blogs. On the other hand, there are those who keep it down low but have a ride that’s more than astonishing and I was fortunate enough to meet someone in that category, Teddy Timoteo from the Valley in California.
Ted goes way back in the automotive scene, racing and enjoying modifying his car to compete against others. The valley was known for its underground races back in the days, which eventually died out as it was getting raided by cops, but when it was active, hundreds of cars came out to enjoy talking with others and racing for fun. Ted was one of those guys and was known for his car and competitiveness.
Time flew and as the underground racing scene was eventually fading out, Ted and his car was nowhere to be seen. But instead leaving the car in the garage piling up in dust, Ted managed to constantly upgrade his ride, which is this beautiful Civic EK you guys are seeing today.
We’ve seen tons of Civics on those well-known magazines or blogs, but this one does not fall behind. Talking with Ted before the shoot, I realized how much passion he had in the automotive scene and that’s what really drives me, as a photographer, to enjoy my time shooting cars that are worth features.
This EK has been through the downs and ups and Ted is still not satisfied with how it performs and with its look; however, in my eyes, this EK9 is one of the sexiest EK’s out there today.
From the many mods on the EK9, the one that stands out the most is the ‘ICEMAN’ Cold Air Intake. Unlike others who purchase this brand off the net or from an aftermarket store, this Intake is off from another EK, Eugene, who works at Prostreet Imports. After Eugene’s ride being featured on a magazine, Ted managed to get his hands on this rare but functional piece. It gets even better with the b18c engine swap for that extra horsepower everyone strives for.
Being one of the sponsors for Bisimoto, Ted was able to make a move on the engine with Bisimoto’s header and intake manifold gasket. The fuel was ramped up with RC Engineering 440cc injectors and much more quality products for an even better performance based car.
As much as being impressed with the performance mods, we can’t ignore the interior.
The EK9 Recaro seats gives that safe but comfortable feeling for both the driver and passenger and loving to race, Ted is secured with Takata Harnesses, strapping him down from the intense but powerful Civic. The stock steering wheel was replaced via a Personal Steering wheel on Works Bell Hub and Quick Release, giving it style and quality. All of the accessories listed, such as the Mugen pedals and ARC shift knob, has a purpose.
Now it doesn’t stop here because Ted was able to upgrade his stereo system as well. The JL subs are hooked up to his Alpine headunit for that extra bass and loud but clear music for an enjoyment while driving and racing.
We are definitely expecting more from Ted in a couple of months. There will be more exterior parts added and some engine products that will help his ride perform even better. I’m honored to be one of the first guys to feature Ted’s EK and looking forward to see his ride again!
