Feature: Camber Driven
It’s been about 2 weeks since I met up with a group of guys whose rides had insane camber, and surprisingly, were daily driven. After shooting two of their cars, there was one more that I couldn’t pass on. While on the lookout to shoot at new locations, we finally scheduled a time and place in Glendale, CA.
Driving to the location and pulling into the industrial neighborhood, I was astonished by the look of a G35 parked next to a curb, sitting so low the wheels were sitting flush to the fenders.
Let me introduce you to Andrei Toma and his beautiful Black G35 Coupe.
The story starts a couple of years back when Andrei had a couple of cars in mind to purchase, not including a G35. However, it was his Uncle who had made Andrei grow into the Infiniti, and eventually, his decision was made. Being very precise and cautious is what Andrei does; not only to cars but other things as well, and that rolled into effect with this G35. The Infiniti was scrutinized repeatedly until he was satisfied. Like most of us, when we perfect what we drive, It's like falling in love all over again. It was no different for Andrei.
For those who are new into the "hellaflush" scene, you might have been amazed by the overall aggressive, perfected drop. Sitting on BC Racing Coilovers keeps the control in check, with the stance spot on. For those of you who currently have or have had a lowered car, you know how often it scrapes, that ear shattering sound, usually followed by an "ah shit", and a change in driving habit.
Driving a slammed car requires a little more care and awareness, and Andrei speaks from experience! “I drive every road with a lot more care than before. Over time I memorize the bad roads and bad areas, and have developed a map in my head for things to watch out for. I try to do my best at avoiding bad roads, but sometimes there is no other choice and I grin my teeth and take them head on. Having been through this experience, I have gained much respect for General Exclaim tires. I have seen some pretty wild things happen to these tires, and they have held up very well.”
Even through the hellish, horrible roads that were impossible to avoid on his daily drives, it was still looking flawless.
The choice of wheels definitely changes the entire look of the car. Andrei decided to go with an aggressive, yet stylish set of Work Varianza T1S’s in a 20x9.5 -8(F) and 20x10.5 -8(R) flavor, wrapped up in the trusty General Exclaim UHP tires in 225/35/20 up front, and 245/35/20 out back.
Andrei is pretty satisfied with his current setup, but in his quest for perfection, plans to add some different parts, such as a custom exhaust and possibly switching to an even more aggressive set of wheels. What does that mean? More camber, more style. To infiniti and beyond!
