Feature: The Pink Eyed WRX STI!

Just recently (January 2010) Alan Lively purchased a 07 WRX STI, but had to part ways with his SRT4 and his Yamaha R1. It all started about a year ago when Alan’s SRT4 was in a tragic accident. “After five great years of car shows, trophies, and approximately 10k worth of upgrades to my Superman SRT4 I was hit by a semi truck,” says Alan.

While his car was in the shop he had a BC2 body kit molded on, his door handles and key hole shaved, spoiler molded, a custom paint job with Asla Corp’s super glow in the dark paint, Touren TR2 18X9 inch rims painted to match the interior, and engine bay parts to match as well. He also purchased a Darryl Cox Racing’s twin turbo kit, east street air ride system and other aftermarket parts that he saved in his garage waiting to be put on the SRT4.

“Once I got my car back in December 2009 I was so excited to see how it drove,” he said. “It was very hard for me to decide that after I drove it for that first time, out the shop, the car didn’t drive the same and I needed to find a new toy.” He soon realized that his new toy would be the car of his dreams. His friend at a Subaru dealer, in El Paso, contacted him to tell him that his dream car had just been traded in.

“So I sold my 2005 Yamaha R1 that was painted to match the car for $4,000, he sold his SRT4 for 10,000, and went down that day and bought my 07 WRX STI.” “I’m on to bigger and better things, “he says. Only after two months of having his new ride, Alan already started modifying his dream car. “Since I purchased my STI in January 2010 I have upgraded the uppipe to a 3inch Perrin upper, I installed a full 3inch Greddy turbo back exhaust, SPT heat shield, Fujita intake, 18inch 08 STI BBS rims, lowered it, upgraded rotors and hawk brake pads, and a Cusco radiator shroud.”

“I installed my Cobb Accessport with Launch control and flat foot shifting just recently which is great because there’s nothing like coming to a stop light and 2 stepping by a mustang just to let them know it’s game over for them if they try anything,” says Alan.
Also, just recently, he painted his headlights black with pink rings around the HIDs, and all the badges pink.

“I love the way some of the JDM stuff looks so I traded my STI Recaro racing seats for a set of JDM Recaro racing seats which hug you a little closer and have extra accents that the US models don’t come with.” He also purchased and installed a JDM red hazards; he likes the way it sticks out on the dash. He just ordered his Seibon carbon fiber hood, trunk, and 10mm wider fenders through RPM and should be here soon.

“I want to get the Perrin’s 3076 rotated turbo kit along with their stealth front mount intercooler kit once I get my taxes back from my new home purchase,” he said. He is also deciding whether to spend money on a rotated turbo kit or to wait until he saves up for a complete install or just get Seibon carbon fiber doors (all 4) to match the rest of the carbon fiber.

“Eventually I will either powder coat my 08 STI rims or I will buy a set of gram lights and have them powder coated pink to match the rest of it; I will also upgrade to some stiffer sway bars, Perrin under carriage brace system and a set of Tein coilovers with EDFC,” he said.

Alan says he excited about his new car but he isn’t excited about having to start from scratch. “I am looking for sponsors other than car sponsors.com who would be willing to invest in my 07 STI that’s already getting a badass makeover; it will get the attention it deserves,” he said.
