Supercar Sunday 2011 Event Coverage Part 1

If you guys remember, we did coverage on Cars & Coffee @ Irvine a few months ago. A marquee for that specific show is almost every week, so you expect to see tons of cars and a specific model. Another event that’s pretty known in SoCal and somewhat the same as Cars & Coffee is Supercar Sunday, a weekly meet in Topanga Canyon Mall at Topanga, CA, a gathering of exotic to luxurious cars. Although the meet happens every week on a Sunday, the last Sunday of every month is a bit more special because of a marked marquee; last Sunday being the 1 year anniversary for Ferrari’s.

The day of a marquee will fill the whole lot of the mall and tons of people will wake up early to grab a cup of coffee and enjoy an hour or so checking out cars. There are a few booths/vendors here and there and breakfast is usually served as well. Now when I mean the lot being filled, I’m talking about 200~300 cars, majority of them being exotic ones. Occasionally, very well-known celebrities will come with their rides; for example, Jay Leno bringing out his one million dollar Buggati Veyron. Within Supercar Sunday is another event that’s known to almost every automotive enthusiast, called Motor4Toys, a charity event during the week of Christmas. This event is even bigger and better because it happens yearly and cars you usually don’t even see at rich towns will be at this event. With this much information, you could imagine how amazing such an event can turnout.

Luckily, the day I covered Supercar Sunday was supposed to be the 1 year anniversary Ferrari marquee celebration as mentioned before, but because of the rainy weather that’s been hitting California for a few weeks, the marquee had to be postponed to another date, which is still not announced. However, the day was clearing up after a few minutes of opening and people were starting to show up with their exotic rides. Because there weren’t as many Ferrari’s as expected, I will do coverage on this event once again when the next Ferrari marquee is announced.
